Lwaliwa will undergone an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee

Halid Lwaliwa is likely not to feature for Vipers in the opening games of the 2017/2018 Azam Uganda Premier League season.

Lwaliwa who sustained an injury on his right knee during Uganda Cranes' 3-1 win over Kitara in the regional tours, is expected to be out of Vipers squad for more than two months.

The central defender underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test at Kampala MRI center in Mengo and it was found out that he damaged his medial collateral ligament.

"His medial collateral ligament was damaged but he will need another examination to have a final report," stated Mathias Kassaga, Vipers team doctor .

"Lwaliwa will undergone an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to resolve an injury to the internal meniscus."

Lwaliwa played 27 league games for Vipers last season. His performances in the defense helped Vipers to complete the season with the best defensive record.
