Many farmers grow beans but most of them do not have a sheller on their farm, saying that they cannot afford it.

For Twaha Kakooza, a farmer in Bubajjwa in Kayunga district, the story is different. He has discovered the magic in using a bean sheller.

He says the sheller saves time.

"Put the desired amount of beans into the machine and start shelling, the work will take a few minutes."

The bean sheller is simple to operate. You will ordinarily have no problem shelling beans right out of the field if they are dry.

Kakooza adds that the machine is manually adjusted. Beans pass through the filter.

It weighs between 20 and 30kgs and it is made of steel.

"When buying a bean sheller, remember that it can last for decades", Kakooza says.

A durable bean sheller costs about sh3m.
