Broccoli out of season, cauliflower price still low

The price of broccoli price has for the last three months shot up.

The vegetable mainly grown in areas around Kampala like Gayaza has become expensive in the different markets. It now ranges between sh3,000 to sh5,000.

Patrick Ssentamu, a trader at Nakasero Market, attributes the price hike to the sunny season that stayed for a long time as it affects its growth.

But the prices are expected to reduce since the rainy season started which will give better yields, he adds.

The on-season price is usually sh1, 000.

Cauliflower

Meanwhile, the price of cauliflower, which is mainly grown in Kabale and Rukungiri, is low in Kampala markets and areas around.

Kalerwe Market trader Lydia Tumusime says cauliflower goes for sh1, 000. And the demand is high.
