They were intended to promote commercial farming in the constituencies

President Yoweri Musveni has given the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope a brand new tractor.

The Kyabazinga is one of the eight beneficiaries who received the tractors on Friday night at State House in Entebbe. Kyabazinga's tractor was handed over to a delegation from Busoga that represented him.

Other tractors were given out to constituencies in Katakwi, Insigiro and Bukedea districts.

Museveni did not explain why he was giving out the tractors. It was however clear that they were intended to promote commercial farming in the constituencies.

MPs who collected the tractors included Peter Ogwang of Usuk County in Katakwi District and Anita Among the woman MP for Bukedea district. Among subscribes to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

Oboth Ofumbi's family and Alur Cultural Institution in north western Uganda also received a tractor each.

President's press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, said he handed over the tractors in fulfilment of the pledges he made in the previous mobilisation campaigns.

Museveni also handed over five other brand new vehicles to individuals, groups and families. The beneficiaries included the widow of Prince Ssimbwa and Busoga Women Adventists SACCO.
