Rally drivers competing in the 2WD car category have been boosted by support from Chemsols Paints Company.

Drivers Ismail Ortega, Fred Ssenkumba, WOI Ismail Lule, Gilberto Balondemu and Sadati Negomba were on Friday assured of support from the paints company by the director Charles Okadia at a function held in Kampala.

"We started with Ismail Ortega in the Pearl of Africa rally last year. This year we gave fuel (40 litres) to the five drivers in the Fort Portal rally and we are going to increase on our support in the Pearl of Africa rally," Okadia stated.

Chemsol Director Charles Okadia speaking to rally drivers Ismail Ortega, Fred Ssenkumba, Aaron Nsamba,Gilbert Balondemu.

"We are aware that most sponsors look at those powerful drivers, but for us we know that to be a champion in the National Rally Championship (NRC), you begin in the 2WD category and that is why we are supporting these drivers," Okadia stated.

Okadia explained that his company is going to increase on the package this year by importing rally tyres from Kenya for the drivers because in Uganda they are very expensive.

A rally car tyre costs sh1.2m and a driver requires a minimum of eight tyres to be able to participate in the seven national championships a season.
