Sharp FC from Kabale district, has qualified to represent Western Region in next season's FUFA Big League.

The youthful side registered a 2-1 win over regional league debutants Rushere FC from Kiruhura district in a tense final played on Wednesday at Kyamate Grounds in Ntungamo Municipality.

A 47th minute strike by Cleophus Fiat put Sharp ahead before Ismail Luyombya levelled the scores on 67 minutes from the penalty spot.

Jonhson Tumuramye then restored Sharp's lead six minutes from time, heading home from a corner kick.

Rushere coach Noah Mugerwa, who had to take some minutes consoling his crestfallen players, said they realized the mistakes made at the end of the game that they will have to come back strongly next season.

Rushere which was playing in their maiden regional league after gaining promotion from Division One last year, were the favourites to gain promotion after finishing top of the Ankole group.

Sharp will be the second side from Kabale to play in the second most prestigious local league tier, after Creamland that qualified in the 2012/13 season but never went to the end due to financial constraints.

Ntungamo Municipality Mayor Jacob Kafureka, who presided over the finals, warned the players against love of money that will make them forget about their talents..
