Mountains of the Moon Rally
Kuku Ranjit has vowed to use the Mountains of the Moon Rally to close the gap to the top drivers in the race for the 2017 National Rally Championship (NRC) crown.
Ranjit made the remarks on Thursday before heading to Fort Portal where the race, the fourth round of the NRC, will be held.
"In Kayunga we just went off the road and were time bad, but this is our opportunity to close that gap" Ranjit stated.
Navigated by Musa Nsubuga in a Mitsubishi Evo10, Ranjit is eighth on the NRC standings with 85 points and a win or second place finish will see him climb some spots on the NRC table.
Ranjit will however face tough competition from Ronald Ssebuguzi who leads the championship, Duncan Mubiru, Arthur Blick, Ambrose Byona, Omar Mayanja and Musa Kabega.
The three day event starts with a drivers' anti-doping workshop and scrutineering on Friday before a super special stage at Boma Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
The drivers will then on Sunday battle it out in nine stages which include Amabere ga Nyina Mwiru (14.50kms), Rwenzori Tea (12.20kms), Mabale (16.76kms), Mpanga (27.09km) and Zaborogota (22.2km). Rwenzori, Mabale and Mpanga will be repeated once.
