Buganda Kingdom has commemorated 51 years since Kabaka Freddrick Mutesa was attacked at his Lubiri Palace in 1966.

In his remarks, the kingdom's 2nd deputy premier, Dr. Twaha Kawaase said the attack caused a big setback on the kingdom.
He urged all kingdom loyalists to stop mourning and work hard to revive the lost glory of the kingdom now that the Kabaka was restored.
The attack was executed on orders of the then President Milton Obote, on May 24, 1966, forcing Mutesa into exile in London where he later passed on November 21, 1969.
The Supreme Mufti, Siliman Ndirangwa led the day's prayers, where he prayed for an everlasting peace in the kingdom and the country at large.
The kingdom's culture minister, Denis Walusimbi called on parents to embrace culture in their homes.
