Teachers arrested over forged documents

They will be charged with uttering false documents and theft of government funds

 

Eleven secondary school teachers in Nakasongola have been arrested on the orders of district authorities in connection with allegedly using forged documents to get enrolled on government's payroll.

The suspects who include head teachers allegedly used forged appointment and confirmation letters to get enrolled on the payroll.

Nakasongola District Education Officer, Kajura Muwonge, said the arrests followed a two week validation exercise which was conducted by the district authorities.

The Savannah Region Police spokesman, Paul Kangave, said they would be charged with uttering false documents and theft of government funds.

Some of the arrested suspects include; Amos Mubalita the deputy head teacher of Kisalizi Secondary School as well as Shamila Nalubega, Erifaz Kivumbi and Edita Ndiraba all teachers at Kalongo Seed SSS.

Kangave said the arrested teachers were unearthed during a validation exercise of all teachers and health workers in Nakasongola which was conducted by the district's audit department.
