Gov't of Israel donates hospital beds to Ralpha health center

The items worth $ US 6000 (sh21.7m) were handed over to health workers during the celebrations to mark the 69th independence of Israel at Ralpha health center on Sunday.

Ralpha health center three on Bussi Island in Bussi sub-county Wakiso district has received 20 beds from Government of Israel.

Yahel Vilan the Israel ambassador to Uganda and Kenya said they decided to celebrate their independence at Bussi Island so as to donate and save a few souls as the saying in Judaism that saving one soul saves the whole world.

Rapha health center III serves a population of 18,000 people on the hard to reach Bussi sub-county which covers four Islands; Bussi, Kachaga, ZZinga and Ssenyondo Island and other neighboring islands like Buwanga in Mpigi district.

Brian Kafunze the clinical official at the unit said they gives free treatment to about 120 patients daily and currently a total of 1,318 people living with HIV/AIDS have enrolled into care.

While addressing guests Drake Kanabo the founder of the health facility thanked the Israel government and said the beds will enable them admit more patients because the unit had only 13 beds.

Yahel also donated two water tanks each with capacity of 10,000 liters to Talemwa primary school also on Bussi Island.
