Stormers win Muwanguzi Cup

Stormers Beach Soccer club which is a one of the pioneer teams in the sport, won their first ever beach soccer trophy at the inaugural edition of the Muwanguzi Memorial Cup at Lido beach on Sunday when they beat MUBS 2-1 in penalties.

Ibrahim Mpengere scored twice for Stormers in the tightly contested final while eventual goalkeeper of the tournament Samson Kirya made saves that denied MUBS goals. Maxwell Okello scored MUBS consolation goal.

The Cup is named after former Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) in remembrance of their former patron and owner of Lido beach Samson Muwanguzi, who offered to host all beach soccer competitions there for years. Muwanguzi passed on last year.
