May 11, 2017

The move is aimed at boosting intelligence so as to detect insecurity in time

Corrupt Gombolola Internal Security Officers (GISOs) risk losing their job, the Security Minister Lt. Gen. Hendry Tumukunde has warned.

This was during a security meeting with district leaders and security personnel in Soroti last evening.

According to Tumukunde, government will soon review the activities of GISOs.

Tumukunde said the move is aimed at boosting intelligence so as to detect insecurity in time.

He said that despite their important role in intelligence gathering, GISOs have not got sufficient attention as part of the intelligence network of government.

Tumukunde also said some of the GISOs have lost public trust because of corruption which affects the intelligence network of government.

He observed that the last time government trained GISOs on their operations was in 2001.
