Police have arrested nine people including a head teacher of a primary school in connection with last month's attack on Ngenge Police post in Kween District.

Sipi regional Police spokesperson, Rogers Taitika identified the head teacher as Siwa Alfred. The suspect heads Tuikat Primary School in Kwosir Sub County Kween District.

Other suspects are Sadic Labu, 53, Felix Kwerit, 28, Will Cherop, 18, Moses Cherotic, 28, George Cheptoch, 28, Francis Sabira, 34, Benaya Chelengat, 17, and Moses Twoyem 36.

The suspects hail from a number of sub counties in Kween and Kapchorwa districts including Ngenge, Kwosir, Benet, and Kaptanya.

The attack occurred on April 18 at 5:30am when a gang of 14 armed men invaded the Police Station. One Police officer, Sgt. Emmanuel Totwala was killed. Two suspected attackers were also put out of action that day as they attempted to escape.

"The investigations are almost done and the suspects will be produced in court any time," he said. "We shall prefer two charges of murder and armed robbery against all the suspects because a Police officer was killed and one gun was stolen."

"The suspects were arrested in combined operations conducted by different security agencies including Police, the army and intelligence units," Taitika said.

He also revealed that a "prophet" in the area was recently arrested and similar charges pressed against him. "The prophet hoodwinked the attackers that their mission would succeed," he said.

New Vision has learnt that Police have deployed more Special Forces Unit (SFU) personnel to patrol the area. The gun that was stolen during the attack at the Police Station was recovered.
