National Beach Soccer League enters quarterfinals

MUBS meet Stormers BSC and YMCA meet Kabalagala Rangers BSC inthe other quarterfinal.

After a tough regular season of the National Beach Soccer League, MUBS coach Charles Ayiekho and his counterpart at Nkumba Select Isa Asiimwe are hoping to win the 2017 title.

Defending Champions Nkumba Select BSC, who finished third in the Hurriken group meet KIU (Monsoon) in the quarterfinals and Asiimwe has confessed that the fixture is what he expected.

"Meeting KIU in the quarterfinals is like assuring me that my team is already in the semifinals because my record against KIU speaks for itself. I'm looking at St Lawrence or Mutesa I Royal universities (who meet in the quarterfinals) for the semifinals," Asimwe said despite the loss to MUBS on Sunday. 

MUBS meet Stormers BSC and YMCA meet Kabalagala Rangers BSC inthe other quarterfinal. Ayiekho is promising to reclaim the title they last won in 2014.

"We have taken two years without winning the trophy and this year must be ours. We need it. I'm planning special training sessions as we look at our semi-final opponent," Ayiekho also said.

In a battle of Rubaga Division in Kampala, Mutesa I Royal University take on unbeaten St. Lawrence University in the fourth quarterfinal fixture to book a possible semi-final date against defending champions Nkumba Select BSC.

Top four teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals which will played on May 18 at Lido Beach. The semi-finals and the final will be played the same day on May 25.
