LUWERO - An AK47 and two locally made guns believed to have used to terrorize residents of Luwero town have been found abandoned at two different sites in Luwero.
The AK47 was found with 29 rounds of live ammunitions in a bush near Luwero town while the two fake guns were recovered in a bush in Kalule village.
Savannah police regional spokesperson Paul Kangavve said that the AK47 was found by three children who were playing near the bush.
The locally made guns were found by a woman near her garden.
Kangavve assembled the recovered ammunition before the press in Luwero, saying they believe they were being used by armed thugs in the area.
A demonstration by the police regional spokesman proved that the two locally made guns could fire and potentially would or even kill a person.
There have been rising reports of crime in in that area in recent months.
Kangavve said the police had intensified operations to bring the culprits to book.
