Peter Odyek, Kole district store man says that after receiving the rice on Friday, the bags were all packed in two different store adding that to his surprise on Tuesday he got pieces of rice scattered on the store veranda while the window had been opened.

Kole District officials and residents are still left speechless after realising that unidentified thieves had broken into the district store and made off with bags of rice, a relief food that was given to kole under prime minister's office.

On Friday 28th April, Kole district received 180 bags of rice under disaster preparedness to be given out to the vulnerable people in the district but which was delayed as beneficiaries were yet to be identified.

Peter Odyek, Kole district store man says that after receiving the rice on Friday, the bags were all packed in two different store adding that to his surprise on Tuesday he got pieces of rice scattered on the store veranda while the window had been opened.

He added that on opening the store, he started checking and got a bent spear on the floor which he suspect could have been used to pick the bags of rice.

He estimated that over six bags of rice out of 180 bags given could have been stolen during the Tuesday incident.

However, surrounding residents describe the incident as a constructive one which some technocrats in the district are forging to steal the rice since the window is not broken into.

They are accusing Odyek for not paying 11 boys who offloaded the rice from the car

Kole district officer in charge of criminal investigation, Jimmy Mogi Agaba confirmed that the case of store breaking and theft had been opened at Kole C.P.S under SD REF 22/02/05/2017.
