R&A promised continued support to the Uganda Golf Union and to Africa as a continent.

Some of Uganda's struggling golf clubs are set to benefit from the Royal and Ancient development initiative following Uganda Golf Union President Johnson Omolo's visit to the R&A headquarters last week.

After attending the 10th international golf conference at the Fairmont, St. Andrews, the R&A promised continued support to the Uganda Golf Union and to Africa as a continent.

Omolo who doubles as Africa Golf Confederation Vice President, was in attendance alongside other amateur golf presidents in the world with Africa having Uganda, Gambia, Kenya and South Africa.

The conference tackled and discussed the new rules of golf and golf development around the globe among others.

After meeting the R& A chief executive officer Martin Slumbers at the R &A headquarters, Omolo held separate meetings with the director golf development Kevin Baker and the director sustainability, Steve Isaac who promised equipment support to Uganda.

Following the meeting Arua, Kabale, Mbarara, Mbale and Uganda Golf Clubs will benefit from the R&A offer in the form of equipment later in the year.

Among the new decisions reached on, the R&A and the USGA issued a new decision on the Rules of Golf to limit the use of video evidence in the game which takes effect immediately. Earlier this year the R & A announced the introduction of a new Local Rule to the Rules of Golf that eliminates the penalty when a ball is accidentally moved on the putting green.
