Prosecution alleges that between February 18 and May 11, Besigye, in various places in Wakiso and Kampala districts, incited the people to overthrow the Government.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye, accused of treason has protested delayed trial, saying he is slated not to return to court for bail.

This follows an adjournment made by Nakawa court Grade one Magistrate Noah Ssajjabi after Prosecution said investigations in his treason case is still on-going. The case was adjourned to May 30.

"It is now over a year and a month and the case is still under investigations. I will negotiate with my lawyers and I find a way of not returning to court for bail. If they want to arrest me and take me back to Luzira, It's up to them," he said.

According to Besigye, the delayed trial is persecution and not prosecution. He was accompanied by his lawyer Earnest Kalibbala.
Besigye arrived at Nakawa court at exactly 9: 00am aboard a white Toyota Land cruiser and went straight to the court room where he spent about 10 minutes before his case was heard. Besigye was dressed in a pair of black trousers and a white long-sleeved shirt.

Prosecution alleges that between February 18 and May 11, Besigye, in various places in Wakiso and Kampala districts, incited the people to overthrow the Government.

He is also accused of declaring himself as President of Uganda after claiming to have won the February 18 presidential elections.

According to the DPP, this is against the legal prescribed processes through which one can ascend himself into the office of the president.
