Mothers to share experiences on parenting and career

In contemplation of the mother's roles and the challenges she faces each day in balancing family and career roles, Gals Forum International will bring mothers, mothers- to- be and all women together to network through bonds of motherhood and share experiences through an event called, ‘The Mother's Summit'.

The summit is scheduled for May 13, 2017 at 9am to 5pm. Thereafter, they will be a Red Carpet Mothers' Dinner scheduled for May 14, 2017 (5pm) at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi.

"The Mothers' summit will be a platform of motherhood knowledge generation, experience sharing and networking aimed at galvanizing support around the critical role mothers play in nurturing individuals into responsible citizens. It will provide space for synergizing families, advocating for mothers' economic empowerment and work towards reducing exploitation of women in homes and work places," noted Esther Namboka, the Gals forum executive director.

Namboka noted that the summit will feature current trends in parenting, women's rights, business and entrepreneurship. It is also incorporating health and nutrition, wellness and self-care, and economic empowerment aimed at providing educationally enriching sessions that support the participants' motherhood role.

Addressing journalists at media center yesterday, Prosscovia Nabatte, the Gals forum communications officer said that the summit is advancing the cause of women in promoting sustainable development in the country as well as raising awareness on the importance of International Mothers' Day in Uganda.

The National Mothers brand Ambassador of year 2017/2018, Sarah Kisawuzi, an exemplary mother of three children, who through her talent has managed to raise awareness of the common challenges mothers face in families will positively represent mothers this year in a multitude of settings and will be responsible for raising awareness about the motherhood role while generating motherhood opportunities.

"Today's mothers are too busy, during the summit; together with other urban women, we shall share testimonies, views, knowledge and skills on effective motherhood. We shall have a platform where recommendations will be made and shared to that the Government with a view of enhancing the status and livelihood of mothers in Uganda," said Kisawuzi.

Exhibition stalls will be available to showcase and provide mother/women/children related services and products such as; health products, counseling services, checks ups, make over among others.
