A fight erupted between the two camps and Police deployed from Mpigi Central Police Station

Residents of Konkoma village, Mpigi town council in Mpigi district on Saturday witnessed drama after relatives fought over where to bury their relative who died.

It all started when relatives of Night Nabakooza, 35, who was a resident of Kajjansi in Wakiso district, failed to agree on her final resting place.

Her children had earlier suggested that the body be buried at one of their uncle's place while another section of the family preferred that the deceased be buried at the ancestral home.

The deceased's children argued that during her life, their mother had told them that they were not on good terms with one of her brothers who is also the heir to their father Kalooli Kakooza who is currently in charge of their ancestral home.

"Our mother told us she doesn't want to be buried at their ancestral grave yard because her relationship with the heir is not good" one of the children said.

A fight erupted between the two camps and Police deployed from Mpigi Central Police Station was called in to contain the situation.

Police led by the Mpigi CPS OC Ronald Mugarura was forced to fire bullets in the air to disperse the rowdy mourners.

Police later took away the casket bearing the body of the deceased to Mpigi Central Police station to allow the relatives sort out the issue.

The body was later handed to Kakooza's family and burial took place at 7:30pm.
