Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its readiness to handle the nomination of candidates who have shown interest to contest in the Toroma county MP by-election.

Daniel Othieno the returning officer Katakwi says they are more than prepared for the two-day exercise that kicks off this morning at EC offices in Katakwi district.

Othieno says candidates shall be allowed to come with a maximum of four people for nomination and those who would come should be carrying bank-slips to show that they paid registration fees of three million.

He further explained that nine people including the former Katakwi district LC5 John Robert Ekongot have picked nomination forms for Toroma county seat that fell vacant last month following the death of Cyrus Amodoi Imalingat in a motor accident.

Joseph Koluo of the NRM told Etop radio that he booked 11 o'clock as the time he will be nominated and he promises to advocate for the improvement of education once voted.

Other candidates that have picked forms include Andrew Joseph Omiat of UPC, Solomon Osiya, Constant Itakorit, Patrick Ediangu, Stanly Opus, Martine odaka and Robert Imalingat.
