Apr 21, 2017

Prosecution said that these statements were aimed at defaming the person of the president which Otunnu denied.

Buganda Road Court grade one magistrate Joan Aciro will on April 25 decide whether the former UPC Party President Olara Otunnu has a defamation case to answer.

Otunnu is said to have defamed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on January 16, 2013 during his UPC party weekly news conference at Uganda House when he attacked his regime referring to it as one full of political assassinations.

Prosecution said that these statements were aimed at defaming the person of the president which Otunnu denied.

However Otunnu's lawyer, Asuman Basalirwa has asked the magistrate Aciro to dismiss the case.
