KAMPALA - State minister in charge of general duties Dr. Sarah Opendi has called for regular medical check-ups in order for people to avoid contracting heart diseases.

She attributes the problem of heart conditions to poor health and lifestyles, saying that majority of people go to health facilities when it is too late to save their saves.

If people regularly went for medical check-up, the number of heart-related deaths would significantly reduce, added the minister.

Today, the Uganda Heart Institute registers over 1,000 new cases of heart conditions in both children and adults.
