CSOs want Operation Wealth Creation program extended to schools

Presenting their budgetary proposals on the ministerial policy statement for the Ministry of education, for the financial year 2017/2018, to the parliament committee on education, the CSOs under their umbrella body civil society budget advocacy group, noted that the program will help schools produce enough food for the students.

Civil Society organization, have asked the government, through the Operation Wealth Creation, to consider distributing seedlings to School, for food production.

Presenting their budgetary proposals on the ministerial policy statement for the Ministry of education, for the financial year 2017/2018, to the parliament committee on education, the CSOs under their umbrella body civil society budget advocacy group, noted that the program will help schools produce enough food for the students.

"We recommend that through OWC seedlings be distributed to facilitate establishment of school gardens," Lydia Kobusinge, the Budget specialist CSBAG said.

Currently the ministry of education is working on a policy on schools feeding, which the CSOs, want to capture the distribution of seeds by the OWC.

According to the CSOs, many schools, especially in the Eastern part of the country, are going without food, which they said affects, the performance of students, since their concentration levels are low
