Embattled state minister for labour, Herbert Kabafunzaki, has been granted bail by the Ant-Corruption court in Kampala.

He was ordered to pay sh5m cash bail and sh50m not cash. He also deposited his diplomatic passport and a land title.

The minister was on Tuesday charged and sent to Luzira Prison after he was charged with soliciting a gratification of sh15m from a businessman Mohammed Hamid of Aya Group.

The minister however denied the charges. On his way to Luzira, he blamed the opposition party FDC for being behind his misery.

"My enemies, the FDC supporters in my constituency are behind this. They are framing me even the President (Yoweri Museveni) is aware of this," Kabafunzaki asserted as he boarded a Prison bus.

Police on Saturday afternoon arrested the minister who is also the MP for Rukiga County at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

He allegedly picked a sh5m bribe as partial payment for sh10m he had reportedly solicited from businessman Mohammed Hamid of Aya Group.

According to Hamid, the minister asked for sh10m to clear Aya Group's name in the ongoing allegations of sexual harassment of the group's employees.

He was allegedly arrested with an envelope containing the money by a combined team of Special Forces Command and Police at around 3pm.
