Kabale leaders tipped on online wealth declaration

The call was on Tuesday made by Mariam Wangadya, the Second deputy Inspectorate General of Government while addressing leaders of the two districts in a one day training on online declaration system at the Kabale district headquarters.

Kabale and Rubanda district leaders have been asked to embrace the ongoing Online declaration so as to ensure transparency in their services.

Wangadya said that the inspectorate conducts the declaration of wealth exercise in regard to the leadership code act and thus all leaders ought to embrace it.

She explained that with the Online declaration, challenges of storage shall be sorted and it also meets the current technological trends.

Wangadya further appealed to leaders to be truthful while conducting the exercise.

" Do not under declare your wealth in this exercise. We shall deal with those who fail to respect the exercise's requirements according to the law," said Wangadya.

Speaking at the same function, the Kabale district Chief Administrative Officer, Abert Matsiko Mutungwire expressed concern over the increasing late coming of civil servants in the area.

He also blamed some health practitioners who ask patients some money while giving them drugs in government facilities.

Mutungwire said that the district will continue to boost its fight against corruption as required by the law.

The Resident District Commissioner for Kabale, Darius Nandinda used the platform to condemn some leaders who cooperate with corrupt officials despite the existing structures against the vice.

"We are not happy when we see some corrupt officials getting police bond," said Nandinda.
