PADER - The mayor of Pader Town Council, Wodacholi Kilama, has been reduced to walking to his office because the motorcycle is supposed to use is beyond repair.

The bike remains parked in offices of the town council and has gathered dust after the former mayor Omona Lapit reportedly spoilt it.

"I have no choice but to walk and work for the people of Pader," Kilama told New Vision when asked how he was coping.

He explained that to alleviate his problem of walking one kilometer every day, the town council will include a motorcycle budget for the coming financial year for purchase of one.

The mayor has even more to worry about. His office administration block is in sorry state and he is stuck with skips donated by Amref Health Africa.

He says the new administration block has taken 16 years without being completed after the contractor was terminated due to shoddy work.

The cement on the floor has been washed away and the iron sheets have corroded.

Besides, the pit-latrine used by the workers has developed a crack and the door is broken.

About the skips, Kilama says they would want to give them to people who are committed to maintain them after signing a memorandum of understanding with the town council.

Out of the 75 skips, only 10 so far have been distributed to schools and some hotels.
