Four injured in Aruu North by-election

The scuffle broke out following claims that people, who were not registered voters, were being transported from Angagura to Atanga Sub County in Pader.

 Some of the suspected illegal voters Police arrested.

Four people have been injured in Angagura Sub County, after a scuffle broke out between the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and those of opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters in a by-election for Aruu North MP.

The scuffle broke out following claims that people, who were not registered voters, were being transported from Angagura to Atanga Sub County in Pader.

The injured include:  Pece Division LC3 Chairman in Gulu Municipality of FDC, Walter Oringa a polls agent, Oryema Francis the LC I of Anga-gura with his wife Margaret Achiro and a man who as only identified Dennis as Nono.

Nono is said to have suffered a fracture on his arm, and Komakech is nursing bruises on his head and arms.

Bosco Otim the Aswa, Regional Police Commander, said a scuffle broke out following a disagreement between the LC1 and the people who were involved in the fight.

The seat fell vacant following a Court of Appeal ruling.

The race is mainly between NRM's James Kidega and Lucy Achiro, an independent candidate who is FDC party leaning.

Others in the race are: Vincent Okot Obutu of the Democratic Party, Justin Boswell Oryema, and Henry Komakech who are independent candidates.
