Farmers advised to sow early

Farmers in Teso sub region have been asked to plant crops once they realize some moisture in their gardens.

David Okello, the senior research officer in-charge of groundnuts improvement in Uganda, says the current climate change does not necessitate farmers to wait for heavy rains to plant.

Okello, who works with National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) in Serere, advises farmers also to get good seed from a right source so that they realize good harvests.

Francis Iyeset Ochole, the district councillor of Omodoi Sub County in Katakwi, also encouraged farmers to plant security crops like cassava.
