Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has finalized plans to compensate people affected by the Kampala Southern Bypass project.
The verification exercise for the first batch of 327 persons are in Kalule ,Kigundu , Nakinyuguzi, Kigagga and Lukuli zones in Makindye Division. Lists of names have been displayed for transparency.

Juliet Oyellah a senior land valuer with UNRA said they have displayed the list of whose property was valued and each individual is given details of final approved amount of money to receive.
She said under the ongoing exercise those who accept to take the reflected amount on the verification sheet, have to sign the acceptance forms to be forwarded to the finance ministry to wire the money to their respective bank accounts.
Oyellah however, said they have received cases of changes in names for affected persons as reflected on the identity cards and supportive documents for land ownership.
The Kampala Southern Bypass links the 51Km Kampala Entebbe and Salaama - Munyonyo and the 77Km Jinja Expressways at Namataba to address challenges of traffic jam.
Moses Muwanga, UNRA's head of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for Kampala Jinja Expressway said the Jinja Expressway will have eight lanes at the beginning of the project at Nakawa but will keep on reducing to six, and to four lanes .
