Mbetegyeriz said that the leaders should work hand in hand with the groups that benefited, to make sure the funds are recovered in time.

The district Resident Commissioner (RDC) Bundibugyo Godfrey Mbetegyerize has lashed out at some accounting officers in the District for frustrating the Youth Livelihood Programme(YLP).

The RDC who was speaking at a meeting of sub county chiefs, community development officers (CDOs) and officials from the ministry of Gender and social development on Wednesday in Bundibugyo town, lamented that funds are swindled through ghost groups.

Mbetegyeriz said that the leaders should work hand in hand with the groups that benefited, to make sure the funds are recovered in time.

Makobole Natulinda, the YLP communications officer, stressed that districts which had not hit 50% recovery rate would not access further funding, regretting to note that Bundibugyo's repayment stood at 45%.

She said that of the sh400m received by the district, only 38% has been recovered.

Makobole reported that politics is another factor that is affecting Bundibugyo's recovery rate.

The regional coordinator YLP, Moses Nterengenya warned that government officials implicated in swindling YLP funds shall lose their jobs on top of imprisonment.

Moses disclosed that in the region, Kyegegwa tops with 115% repayment rate, Kasese 97%, Kyenjojo 96%, Ntoroko 93%, Kabarole 56% and Bundibugyo 45%.
