Entebbe edges Kigali in annual Inter-Club Golf Challenge

Entebbe will have to travel to Kigali for the return leg before the end of the year

Stanley Muhwezi, Michael Tumusiime, Josef Salan and Pamela Tumusiime returned the best scores on the day as Entebbe Club members beat their counterparts from Kigali in the first leg of the Inter-Club Golf Championship at Entebbe Club on Saturday.

Muhwezi's 70 nett was the best on the day with Salan and the Tumusiimes returning 71 each as Entebbe won with a 66 stroke margin (718-784).

Daniel Opwonya, Isaac Mariera and David Scanlon scored 72 nett each with Herman Deco Mutebi, John Koon and Rita Apell the other scorers for the Entebbe side that will have to travel to Kigali for the return leg before the end of the year.

Kigali Golf Club best scorers were from Sam Mburu (75nett), Frank Mugambage (76), and Davis Kashaka (77, Anthony Olwit (77), Habib Salum (78) and Joseph Semwag (79).

Kelvin Kuria, Azzy Twagira, Sip Shrestha and Austin Bareme were the other scorers for Kigali in the one-day event where the top ten best scores count.

Every year, Kigali Golf Club plays a two-legged interclub match play (home and away) with their Uganda counterparts of Entebbe Golf Club as a way of fostering their friendship.
