KOICA wins inaugural Golisano Award

More than 400 athletes have benefited from the USO and KOICA partnership

 

Uganda Special Olympics partners, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), have won the first ever Golisano Global Health Leadership Award at the inaugural Game Changers Forum that brings together Special Olympics' partners to celebrate success and honour those who are changing the game in health care around the world.

The Golisano Global Health Leadership Award, named after philanthropist and Paychex founder, Thomas Golisano, was presented to seven recipients at a ceremony in Schladming, Austria at the 2017 Special Olympics Winter World Games.

The Africa region in partnership with Special Olympics Uganda and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was appreciated for its work with Special Olympics Uganda in creating health solutions where there is no access to healthcare.

KOICA provides volunteer staff in the areas of medical and sports and holds free medical camps in the communities where athletes live. 

More than 400 athletes have benefited from this partnership.
