Andrew Kaweesi a humble Police officer

In a space of four years; between 2007 and 2011 he rose from the rank of senior superintendent of police to the third highest rank in the Uganda Police Force.

 

From a humble beginning in Lwengo district, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi has served in the police for barely 20 years but his rapid rise to the third highest rank in the force is also a credit 

Andrew Felix Kaweesi joined the Uganda police Force in 2001, shortly after training he was made the officers in charge of Ntungamo police station. He was then promoted to deputy commandant of the Kabalye police training school in Masindi, kaweesi's rapid rise through ranks was attributed to his hard work.

Kaweesi later became the personal assistant to the Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura but later left for Somalia in 2007 to train Somalia police personnel.

Upon return from Somalia he took over as commander of the police training school. In 2010 he skipped the rank of assistant commissioner and was promoted to commissioner of police.

In a space of four years; between 2007 and 2011 he rose from the rank of senior superintendent of police to the third highest rank in the Uganda Police Force.

In 2011, he took over from Grace Turyagumanawe as the commandant of Kampala Metropolitan. He came at a time when the first walk to work protests were beginning.

Kaweesi, in 2011 skipped the rank of senior commissioner of police and was pimped Assistant Inspector General of Police.

In September 2014, he was appointed the director of Operations a position he served until July 2015 when he was transferred to the directorate of Human Resource Development.

At the time of his death he was serving as Public Relations Officer for the police (since  August 2016) a position he held alongside his task  as the director of human resource development.
