Chinese community places sh300m bounty on double murder suspect

The house in Kikoni where the bodies of the Chinese nationals were discovered.

The Chinese community in Uganda has placed a sh300m reward for information leading to the arrest of the prime suspect linked to the murder of two Chinese women.

On February 15, the decomposing bodies of Ren Ju, 33, and Sang Weng Wa, 34, from a rented house in Kikoni near Makerere University in Kampala.

It subsequently emerged that the prime suspect, a Chinese electrical engineer (names withheld) operating in Uganda was being sought over the murder.

A statement by the Chinese stated: “Uganda Chinese Community offers a reward of up to sh300m for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the murder of Ms Ren Ju 33 and Ms. Sang Weng Wa 34 of the Chinese nationality on the February 15, this year.”

According to the statement published in New Vision, the murder case was reported to Police under reference number CRB91/2017 at Wandegeya Police Station in Kampala.

The Chinese embassy in Kampala asked Police to expedite investigations into the double murder that the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, described as a mafia like assassination.

Kayihura, who visited the scene, said the deceased were killed by stabbing and the hunt for the prime suspect, said to be a Chinese, had commenced.
