Defending champions Allen Vivian Richard Stanley (AVRS) have set their sights on the East Africa Club Championships later this December.

After proving a baseball powerhouse in Uganda, Joseph Drotti's side are looking to extend their influence in East Africa keeping in mind the 2020 Olympics where he wants to see some of his players represent the country.

"There's a lot for us to accomplish. I want to have a strong side that will feature in the different series of competitions coming up and of course with baseball and softball back on the Olympic program, there's surely no time to rest" said Drotti.

They have further underlined their tittle credentials in the newly created National Softball League.

AVRS got their campaign off to a flyer with crushing victories against Lady Crusaders (14-2) and Nile Hammers (23-3) on Sunday at Kyambogo.

They are currently at the summit of both the National Baseball League and the National Softball League.

AVRS possess the most promising softball players and though it's still early days, it won't be surprising if they clinch both the Men and Women leagues.

Dennis Achidri has grown into an all-rounder. Nicholas Alumai’s pitching is improving; he perfectly pitched the five innings against Kyambogo Buffalos at the weekend.

For the ladies, Doreen Aucho, Jennifer Akello, Elizabeth Otoni, Rehemah Namazzi and Goretti Komuhendo can take the team places following their impressive displays on Sunday.

With good financial back up from the school in Nakirebe, the team who won the Europe and Africa Region Championship back in 2015 can certainly dare for more.
