Ndejje Elites VC are Uganda's representatives at the 2017 continental championships.

Coach Johnson Kawenyera hopes to ensure Ndejje Elites women volleyball team plays a number of friendly matches with their domestic rivals as the only way to boost confidence of the team ahead of the Africa Club Championships in Tunisia early next month.

After winning the 2017 Joan Cox Volleyball Championship which Ndejje used as part of their preparations, the team is headed for the Ndejje Open alongside a number of friendly matches for preparations.

Ndejje Elites VC are Uganda's representatives at the 2017 continental championships.

But other than returnee Jesca Kaidu, Belinda Jepkirui, Saidat Nnungi and Christine Alupo, majority of the current players are new and thus will need appropriate playing time if they should challenge at the international competition.

Kawenyera, who is also the technical director for Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) now, said that he had lined up matches with top clubs to help them prepare for the competition.

"We started training on 8th January and our preparations are going on well but we have run out of time. We are having friendly games and then Ndejje Open on 18-19 March. It should be able to help us get ready for the international competition."

The women's competition will be hosted at Kelibia city, Tunisia from April 4.

Uganda is not represented in the men's championship this year following failure to get a national league champion last year.
