Four killed in Arua

The incidents occurred on Sunday in the four sub-counties of Manibe, Dadamu, Logiri and Aii-vu within Arua district.

The police in Arua have said four people were murdered in different places over the weekend. The incidents occurred on Sunday in the four sub-counties of Manibe, Dadamu, Logiri and Aii-vu within Arua district.

Caesar Mawa, 27, resident of Olivu village in Ombokoro village in Manibe sub-county was on Sunday stubbed by his step mother identified as Serena Afekuru in the chest. When Mawa tried to walk to report the case in Manibe police post, he collapsed on the way and died.

Josephine Angucia, the police spokesperson for West Nile region said,  the crime scene was re-examined by police and postmortem done. She said the cause of the violence has not been established as the suspect is still at large.

 She identified other deceased as Fadil Mundua ,22, a resident of Pelele village in Logiri sub-county  who was murdered on Sunday by a mob after they suspected him of stealing property from one of the shops.

"Mundua was murdered in Ejupala trading center on allegation of theft of items from shop. Police visited the scene of crime and we collected the body for postmortem in Arua hospital but no arrests made," she said.

A woman only identified as Maurine, resident of  Arivu in Dadamu sub-county in Arua district committed suicide.

The reason for committing suicide is not known but police say Maurine has been married for three months.

She said the police also recovered the body of Gideon Atibuni, 24, resident of Odoa village in Aii-vu sub-county from River Enyau behind Chilio health Centre III.

Aii-vu LC3 Chairperson James Afadriayo confirmed that the body of the man who apparently appeared to be murdered was taken for postmortem in Arua hospital with the help of the police. No suspects have been arrested.

Angucia said police is still investigating the causes and will make arrests after establishing way abouts of the suspects.
