Students of Jinja Secondary School have asked women activities to respect themselves as it brings a bad imagine to the girl child and mothers of the nation.

The request was made during the commemoration of International Women's Day held by Uganda Youth Network (UYN) at the school.

The school outreach program was aimed at bringing to attention issues of gender equality and women empowerment to the student communities in Busoga sub region.

Students during the engagement asked UYN to re-echo their concerns about the growing trend of women activists who go on camera and undress in the name of protest.

The event was featured several activities like career guidance, sexual reproductive talks, and youth debates.

The celebration was under the theme; Bold for Change, Young Women Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work.

Isabella Akiteng the program officer policy advocacy and engagement at Uganda Youth Network called upon the students to always be bold and take up chances by investing their time valuably.

"Don't live a celebrity or showbiz lifestyle because it's not yet your time. Focus on what your teachers are telling you" advised Akiteng.

Jinja SS head teacher Hope Tuhumwire Nyago thanked the students for the mature minds they showcased during the debate and their strong views expressed.
