Mar 13, 2017

The fundraising campaign was carried out by Mandela Group

"We pledged that each coin dropped by our customers will be doubled and sh11m was collected and we are fulfilling our promise" said City Tyres marketing manager Herbert Bashaasha, while presenting a cheque of sh22m to Uganda Women's Cancer Support Organization.

"The fight against cancer is a global issue and something that has become everyone's concern and we thought there was need to support cancer patients within the country" Bashaasha added.

Bashaasha revealed that the campaign to fundraise for breast cancer patients in the country was carried out by Mandela Group at various business units including City Tyres and Café Javas.

The sh22m cheque was received by Rebecca Kizira, the chairperson of Uganda Women's Cancer Support Organization, who commended City Tyres for the contribution and appealed to other organisations to emulate the gesture.

"The funds will enable us to carry out research on physical and psychological needs of cancer patients" Kizira said.
