Local pool body hopes to resolve issues

The Association is being run by a five-member board of trustees.

Following their failed general assembly in January, the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) is being run by a five-member board of trustees because some delegates failed to interpret parts of the Association's constitution.

These trustees, according to former PAU president Farouk Kisuze, were chosen in compliance with the National Council of Sports (NCS) as the association grappled for a solution to an election that never happened.

"Some of our delegates didn't understand the rules of procedure so they tried to nominate someone on the floor which was against our constitution.

"It's through this incident that we realised some delegates didn't understand the provisions of the constitution so we put the election on hold took time to streamline the constitution," said Kisuze.

Following the above incident, the association in accordance with the national council of sports rules decided to have the trust run the association until they can organise the next election.

"At the moment the association doesn't have an executive due to the fact that we failed to elect in our last assembly," said Michael Mawanda, former publicity secretary (PAU).

He added that the issues haven't yet been resolved which is why the board of trustees is the one running the association. He also admits that they haven't yet reached a resolution.

"They haven't yet decided when the assembly will be held because they are still thinking of the controversial issues," Mawanda said.

He also believes that the current leadership is solid and they hope to be able to vote by next month.

"The trustee is being led by Farouk Yusuf Wamala, a very competent administrator in the previous cabinet. We also believe we shall resolve the issue in the next month."
