Kamuli district MP campaigns scheduled for Saturday

Six candidates under the NRM flag have been nominated to vie for the Kamuli Municipality.

The candidates include Samuel Walujyo, Rehema Watongola, Mastula Namatovu, Sanubi Namusisi, Caesar Lukalu and Geoffrey Mwesije.

Whereas Namatovu and Watongola were on Monday nominated by the NRM EC chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, the rest were cleared onTuesday.

Speaking at a press conference at the party offices in Kampala on Tuesday, Dr. Tanga said joint campaigns for the seat will kick off this Saturday.

High Court in Jinja mid last year cancelled the election of NRM's Rehema Watongola and declared Kamuli Municipality MP seat vacant following a petition filed by former Kamuli District chairperson Salaamu Musumba.

Musumba who lost in last year's February 18 elections on the Forum for Democratic Change ticke,t petitioned court challenging Watongola's election as MP of the newly created Kamuli Municipality.
