The governing body is in the final stages

The Uganda Body Building and Fitness Association (UBBFA) chairman Twaha Ddungu has assured members that the executive is in the final stages of registering the sport as a national body to conform to the national statutory instrument passed in 2014 by Parliament to register all sports associations and federations under the National Council of Sports (NCS).

This was at the non-elective assembly at the University of Pain Gym at the Old Car Park in Kampala on Sunday that was attended by gym owners and coaches who constitute the assembly of the association.

"We are in the final stages and NCS is aware of our case. We only need to be proactive in our performance" Ddungu told the delegates.

He also outlined a new move by the association to move away from the two national activities they have held for many years and add the inter-regional competitions to the calender.

"We only had Mr. Kampala and Mr. Uganda as the local competitions. We will add Mr. Gulu this year in July as the first initiative to go regional. We will then include the Western, Eastern and South West as a way of expanding the sport in the country and searching for talent" Ddungu said.

He however called in potential sponsors to come their way as they are looking for at least sh 70m to cater for their local engagements of the season.

He however warned the gym owners to improve on hygiene and having properly trained instructors who must attend the courses organized by the association.
