Iganga diocese wants new public address system

A fundraising drive has been initiated to purchase a sh10m public address system for All Saints Cathedral in Iganga district.

According to Rt. Rev. Patrick Wakula, the bishop for Central Busoga Diocese, the equipment is necessary to make prayer sessions more appealing especially to the youths who cherish music.

"Our fellow Basoga residing in Kampala have so far collected over sh1m towards the cause. This has been added to local collections and kept in the bank for the time being," Wakula told New Vision at his office on Monday.

They want to have got the money by the Easter festivities in April this year.

"Those machines you see being used in the cathedral currently are not ours. They were borrowed from Iganga Girls Secondary School and may be returned any time."

Henry Kabulo, the chairperson of the Fathers Union - which unites husbands wedded in church - explained that a major fundraising drive was in the offing to ensure the funds are collected.

"We have invited bank managers, head teachers, MPs and other bigwigs to help us get this money. I know the love for our God will enable us contribute generously for the public address system," he said.

Fred Kasiisa, the LCI chief of Buwooya village, trusts that the funds would be obtained soon.

"I know my residents very well and they are influential people with means to generate cash. The money will definitely be got."

Mary Kagoya, a Christian, observed that the new music system would make praise and worship sessions better as the youngsters like loud music to dance for the Lord.
