Despite defeating Kobs 18-12 on Saturday at Legends Rugby club, the Pirates failed to score four tries that would help them secure a bonus point to keep them in the title race.

The result allowed Heathens start early celebrations for winning the Nile Special Premier Rugby League title with two games to go.

To win the league, Heathens thumped Rhinos 27-16.

Heathens (67pts) are now 11points ahead of second placed Buzz Pirates (56pts) and will play their remaining two games against Pirates on Friday and Kobs the following Saturday as they wait to be crowned.

"I'm very happy to see that we have won this league with two games in hand, but it is not yet over because our focus is now on the unbeaten record" Heathens coach Athio Muhammad stated.

"I just commend the boys for the dedication and urge them to stay focused because we still have two games which we must win" Athio added.
