Moses Golola has finally kicked off construction of his dream sh3bn kickboxing academy, on his own, after pledges from President Museveni and other well-wishers were not forth coming.

He said the president had assigned Miss Molly Kamukama to handle the pledge he had made towards the academy but he has since failed to get her on phone despite her earlier commitment to follow up.

A group of journalists from different media houses who toured the facility located at Kawempe, Lugoba, on Monday found Golola and his colleagues at work, making blocks as well building toilet and shower structures.

Golola said by the end of this week the two facilities will be ready for use by the 15 athletes currently training at the camp.

"We didn't want to bring in many people here without these important items but after this week it is going to be serious business as I train with them, you see even Rome was not built in one day. I'm also organising fights to take place here on April 7 in order to raise more money to go towards the construction," Golola said.

"We have so many fighters but we had to ensure amenities like toilets and bathrooms are ready before officially launching this academy. But we are not going to wait for completion of the whole project to start work, we are going to construct a temporary shelter," Golola remarked.

"I can no longer afford to train in Mabira because the last time I was there the monkeys were no longer conceiving because of my presence," Golola in his usual witty style joked.

He said he was also going to organise a national championship for some of the fighters as he also continues to fight until his retirement ‘as a grandmaster'.

"I want to touch many lives of the youth through kickboxing and boxing and later we shall engage in farming because we don't want to be redundant after training and our careers," Golola stated.

He said on completion the academy will also train instructors and coaches, who they shall send to schools to re-awaken Physical Education classes in schools among other things in order to produce more champions by 2020.
