The Electoral Commission has set April 6 as the polling day for the Aruu North County by-elections, warning aspirants against fundraising.
According to the Electoral Commission chairperson, Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, nomination of candidates will be conducted on 9-10 March.
"All candidates are urged to observe the law. No fundraising activities shall be allowed. If anyone is caught contravening the law, such a person will be dealt with accordingly," Byabakama told journalists during his first press conference as the new EC boss.
The Aruu North County seat was recently declared vacant by the Court of Appeal.
Various political actors have started grassroot campaigns for the seat, including Lucy Otim Achiro, whose election has been nullified.
