The Mayor of Masulita Town Council in Wakiso district, Moses Mayanja, has called upon the residents to cooperate with the town council authorities to make the road project a success.

Mayanja made the remarks while launching the road project in which Masuliita is going to get its first ever tarmacked road on Monday.

Mayanja said Masuliita is going to get one kilometre road tarmacked which will cover the areas of Katikamu-Masuliita and Kabaale-Masuliita roads.

The project is going cost sh400m which was obtained from the Uganda Road Fund. However Mayanja said negotiations are still ongoing to make the road longer than a kilometre because Masuliita participated in the liberation war but the people have for long lived in dust.

He hailed the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government for granting Masuliita town council status which has started bearing fruits of development.

Mayanja appealed to the town council engineer, Faseh Kakembo, to ensure that Masuliita residents especially the youth get jobs in this project so that the community benefits from the development.

He also warned the Masuliita community against engaging in sexual affairs with the contractors saying that it may leave them with the deadly HIV/AIDS.

Eng. Faseh Kakembo appealed to the community to be cooperative because the road is going to be expanded.

"We expect you to be cooperative so that the project is successful," said Kakembo.

Francis Nsimbe who spoke on behalf of the community called upon the people of Masuliita to embrace the project and advised the fellow residents to closely supervise the road work in order to get a quality road.

Nsimbe further appealed to the town council authorities to talk to the residents before extending the road into their land.
