UCC confiscates illegal radio equipment

The operation was headed by Paul Mukasa UCC's manager for multimedia and content regulation who said the loudspeakers installed were causing noise inconveniencing people in the neighborhood.

Drama ensued as Uganda Communications Commission officials raided Makindye a Kampala suburb for illegal radio operators.

Dan Kasaga the proprietor of Youth of Faith Development Organization confronted the Police Environmental protection contingent for confiscating his radio equipment.

The fracas forced the Police to paper spray Kasaga who collapsed and was carried by residents.

The operation was headed by Paul Mukasa UCC's manager for multimedia and content regulation who said the loudspeakers installed were causing noise inconveniencing people in the neighborhood.

He was assisted by Herbert Ibanda the in charge of Police environmental protection who noted that his department has received numerous complaints of noise pollution.

The operation also grabbed loud speakers of Heaven Water Church on Munyonyo road.

Residents of Makindye complained that they were not given any notice prior to the confiscation of equipment.

"Why have they taken our equipment which helped the community with death announcements?" Daniel Kibuuka a youth of Makindye  asked.
