Communities in Teso told to use available food sparingly

The deputy RDC Kumi Eric Sakwa expresses need for people to jealously guard the available food stock to contain shortage crisis.

Local leaders in Teso sub-region are calling upon communities in Teso and Uganda as a whole to use the available food sparingly.

 

The advice comes at a time the country is facing acute shortage.

 

The food shortage, families are currently experiencing is attributed to prolonged dry spell which hit the country withering all the crops people had planted.  

 

Bernadette Akol, the LCV vice chairperson Serere district said that food shortage is likely to worsen if people don't ration what they have for future use.

 

The deputy RDC Kumi Eric Sakwa expresses need for people to jealously guard the available food stock to contain shortage crisis.

 

He said government will not be able to supply food relief to all people experiencing food shortage in the country.

 

"So nobody anywhere should start making a mistake that we're now out of the woods and we can start using the little food stuff wastefully" he said.

 

Sakwa warned that the situation is still dire, the situation is still serious and we must continue implementing the restrictions and our people must continue saving what they have in store.
